Snazzy-fied Shoes

Finished shoes!

Well, I am back from England; and it was a great trip might I add.  I wore these delicious Van’s lookalike shoes for most of the trip, and my urge to draw on them grew every day.. So I first of all tried using watered down acrylic paint to paint these. DON’T DO THAT. It didn’t work. Three hours for nothing. I came back and painted them with un-diluted paint, and it worked great, 20 minutes, done. The doodling over the paint took about two hours. They are awesome. Also, by the way the paints behind them in pictures are not the ones I used, those are my brother’s poster paints (those would not have worked).

In other news, I got the little shark icon next to the website to work. Also, a new website banner should be expected within the next week!

Woah! A new blog post!

It’s been almost a month (really close) since my last post, and I imagine you people that read the blog (whoever you are) have probably been checking several times a day. Okay.. but this post is going to be really cool!

My favorite by far

So I  went to another 3D camp, this time at my school. There were only two people in the class including me, so the student/teacher ratio was pretty good. I learned a lot, and it was a great three week class.

Game Art and Development Course

Our fake game concept art..

Ok, so I am going to completely shorten this post. It takes uberloads of space and isn’t entirely interesting. So a synopsis, I went to a game development course at UT Arlington, we made concept art, 3D concepts and storyboards, but no game. Boom, done.

Future of Modretro?

Why are they standing by giant game consoles? They just are.

Well this started out as a picture not to be taken seriously, with these two guys fighting, and kicking and blowing stuff up, but… when I was working on the background, I thought that it looked too nice for a non serious picture. So it became this. It shows the co-founders of ModRetro (Palmer Luckey and Daylen Hickman), an awesome console modding, portabalizing, gaming and all around pretty friendly community. It was spawned from Benheck forums, another cool site, but anyway.. I made this for a contest ModRetro is having. I thought I’d name it “The Future of ModRetro,” because they are looking into the distance (obviously the future).

Also, wouldn’t be complete without the MAKING OF!

I unfortunately didn’t include the original “humorous” sketches. You didn’t need those anyway. So also if you were feeling like you needed a new hobby– seriously check out ModRetro, this could be it.

Casino Royale face off!

James Bond

I recently watched Casino Royale (1967) and Casino Royale (2006), and I had meant to post my review of them two weeks ago.. But it’s summer. So I’ll start out by just reviewing each movie.

Le Chiffre

Casino Royale (1967)

I started watching this without realizing it was a parody, but I figured it out about halfway through. So at first glance I thought so it has Ursula Andress… She was in Dr. No, sooooo this is a normal James Bond film? Nope. No Sean Connery. Plenty of famous actors, but as a parody it was terribly unfunny. I have not read the book (Casino Royale) by Ian Fleming, but I feel like this barely followed the plot. A good deal of the movie literally didn’t make sense. Either that or they were incredibly dumb.

I give it a 3/10 for production value and big name actors. Otherwise I disliked it.

Casino Royale (2006)

Well some people disliked this because Daniel Craig played such a different James Bond, but not only did I really like this movie, but it followed the plot of the book (more than the previous movie), and it pretty much redeemed the previous movie’s terribleness, and you can’t go wrong with that! It had awesome action and an interesting new take on Bond’s character.

I give this one an 8/10. Pow Pow.

Best Digital Painting Yet?

Hayley Williams

Here are some shots of the painting being made

Well, for this painting, I was up late at night.. So I thought I definitely need to draw and listen to music, which is a lot of what I do ALL THE TIME,  when I am not using Stumbleupon. So I thought I’ll draw Hayley Williams! Which I had tried before, and not succeeded. At all. I spent from 12:00 AM until 5:00 AM working on this one, taking short breaks  every once and a while, and I thought it turned out pretty great!

Foreign Films..

Gwoemul

Monster from The Host, jumping into the water

This month, I have been watching foreign films, because they are awesome!

A list of what I have watched so far, and how much I liked them:

Pan’s Labyrinth (El Laberinto Del Fauno) – Spanish – 7/10

The Host (Gwoemul) – North Korean – 8/10

Audition (Ôdishon) – Japanese – 7/10

Frontier(s) – French – 6/10

The Host was a cool monster film, and I enjoyed it a lot. The only reason Frontier(s) got a 6/10 was the excessive gore.. Too much for me, but some people like that. You can’t tell in the drawing, but the perspective is completely off, but it looks fine if you don’t compare it to the photo I was looking at.. So don’t. I’ll post about it when I watch more foreign films.

The site is up!

Ok I sucessfully got the site up! Also, I put a good deal of work into the header you can see the full image below:

T-Rex

It shows a drawing of me riding a T-Rex

This pretty much represents what goes on in my head; things that don’t really make sense, even to me.
